Terms & Conditions

Deborah Prossimo — Psychotherapist | letstalkpsychotherapy.co.uk
Last updated: March 2026

Please read these terms carefully before booking a session or using this website. By making an enquiry or attending a session with me, you are agreeing to the terms set out below

1. About These Terms

These terms and conditions govern the professional relationship between Deborah Prossimo (referred to as 'I', 'me', or 'the therapist') and you, the client. They apply to all therapeutic services offered, whether delivered in person or online.

2. The Therapeutic Relationship

The relationship between therapist and client is a professional one. Sessions are confidential, boundaried, and bound by the ethical framework of the professional bodies I am a member of, including the EMDR Association UK.

Therapy is not a substitute for emergency medical or psychiatric care. If you are in crisis or at immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, please contact your GP, call 999, or visit your nearest A&E.

3. Sessions — Bookings and Appointments

Sessions are available in person or online/by telephone, as agreed between us. Each session is typically 50 minutes in duration unless otherwise agreed.

To book a session, please get in touch via the contact page. Bookings are confirmed once we have spoken and agreed a date and time.

4. Cancellations and Late Notice

I understand that life is unpredictable. However, your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. The following applies:

•       Please give at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a session.

•       Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice may be charged at the full session rate.

•       In exceptional circumstances — such as sudden illness — I will always try to be flexible. Please contact me as soon as possible.

I reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a session where necessary. In this case, I will give you as much notice as possible and no charge will apply.

5. Fees and Payment

Session fees are agreed between us prior to commencing therapy. Payment is due at the time of the session unless a different arrangement has been made in advance.

I will always be transparent about fees. If your financial circumstances change, please speak with me — I am happy to discuss this openly.

6. Confidentiality

Everything you share in our sessions is treated as strictly confidential. I will not disclose your personal information to any third party without your consent.

There are limited exceptions to confidentiality, in line with my professional and legal obligations:

•       If I believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or to another person.

•       If I am required to disclose information by a court of law.

•       In clinical supervision — where your information is discussed anonymously to support the quality of my practice.

In any of these situations, I will always aim to discuss this with you first, unless doing so would put someone at risk.

7. Your Safety and Wellbeing

Your wellbeing is my priority. If at any point during our work together I have concerns about your safety, I may suggest additional support — such as speaking with your GP — and in serious cases I may need to take steps to ensure your safety, in line with my duty of care.

Therapy can sometimes bring up difficult emotions. This is a normal part of the process. If you feel distressed between sessions, please do not hesitate to get in touch or, in an emergency, contact one of the following:

•       Samaritans: 116 123 (available 24 hours a day)

•       Crisis text line: Text SHOUT to 85258

•       Your GP or NHS 111

8. Online and Telephone Sessions

Where sessions take place online or by telephone, it is your responsibility to ensure you are in a private, safe, and comfortable space where you will not be interrupted or overheard.

I use secure platforms for online sessions. Details will be shared with you prior to your first online appointment.

Please be aware that online sessions may occasionally be affected by technical difficulties outside of either party's control. In such cases, I will do my best to reschedule at no additional cost to you.

9. Professional Standards

I am committed to working ethically and professionally at all times. I am a member of the EMDR Association UK and adhere to their code of ethics and practice. I engage in regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure the quality of my practice.

10. This Website

The information on this website is provided for general guidance only. It is not intended as a substitute for professional medical or psychological advice.

This website may contain links to third-party websites. I am not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.

11. Changes to These Terms

I may update these terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of my services following any update will be taken as acceptance of the revised terms.

12. Questions or Concerns

If you have any questions about these terms, or anything you would like to discuss before we begin working together, please do not hesitate to get in touch via the contact page. I am always happy to talk things through.
